Keegan Bragg
2023 Hansen Graduate Director
Keegan (He/Him) is a director/theatre maker based in Naarm (Melbourne) with a Masters of Theatre (Directing) from Victorian College of the Arts (VCA).
With a focus on text-based performance, Keegan is inspired to create work that meets modern audiences where they are - staging their horror and anxiety in an intimate way, that feels sleek and direct, and is generous with empathy and emotion. He is particularly interested in modern scripted work.
His passion for theatre was lit growing up in Ōtautahi (Christchurch), New Zealand, and grew through making independent theatre in Pōneke (Wellington). His work in New Zealand included directing premieres of award-winning playwrights and devised theatre which travelled to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2019. In 2019 he also served as the Artistic Director of Long Cloud Youth Theatre, based in Pōneke. He is of Māori / Pakeha descent.
Having graduated from VCA in December 2022, Keegan is excited to continue producing work in both Australia and New Zealand that responds to the post-pandemic world our two countries have entered into.
