PRODUCTION INFORMATION

Four well oiled male suitors – the last remaining in the legendary battle for the heart of Queen Penelope – rehearse their entreaties in the hope that one of them will be chosen before her husband, Odysseus, returns from battle to destroy them all. Powerhouse Irish playwright, Enda Walsh, has produced a captivating and hilarious meditation on masculinity and human endeavour. A funny, irreverent tragicomic burlesque!

“The play as a whole is everything you could want in theatre: a meaty, articulate script, a universal theme, conflict, high drama and comedy, and a handful of colourful characters portrayed by fine actors stripped to their speedos.”
– Australian Stage -

“Lockhart, as Penelope, is elegant, unattainable and silent as she poses behind sheer curtains, floating like an angel above their heads…”
– Herald Sun -

“Newcomer Matt Whitby acquits himself well as Burns, and James Wardlaw’s nebbishe Fitz is a delight.”
– Crikey -
