Katy Maudlin

Katy Maudlin is a theatre maker and director who has a strong focus on collaboration, exploration of form, musicalized theatre processes and female dramaturgies. She has worked extensively across Australia, New Zealand and Europe. She was the 2017 Graduate Director at Red Stitch and earlier this year she was in Croatia working with the National Theatre on a new production of Verdi’s Otello. She recently completed her Masters in Directing at the VCA and her graduating production was a collaboration with Ross Muller on a new Australian play, The Last Ten Minutes of History.

In 2016 she worked with MTC on Lungs, completed a directorial secondment with Katie Mitchell, at the Royal Opera in London and travelled to Rijeka. There she worked with director Oliver Frljić on Our Violence, Your Violence, which was performed as part of the 2016 Vienna Festwochen, and also as an assistant director to Marin Blazevic on Handel’s Giulio Cesare at the Croatian National Theatre.

She has been the recipient of the Melbourne Global Scholars Award and the Orloff Family Charitable Trust Scholarship, both awarded for excellence.
