I’m writing from a break in rehearsals where I have been engulfed in the world of Love LoveLove. My character, Sandra, is one of those complex roles that we actors adore. And I have a stellar cast to play with. Not only are the relationships and dialogue brilliant (and painfully funny), but playwright Mike Bartlett has created a script that is sure to spark passionate conversations in the foyer afterwards. Just how we like it at Red Stitch.
In the meantime, Ensemble member Kate Cole has been causing a stir in Sydney with Grounded by George Brant, directed by Kirsten von Bibra. Sydney critics and theatre-goers were rhapsodic in their praise, and we loved sharing our production with wider audiences.
Now its back into rehearsals for me.
See you at the theatre,
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE
by Mike Bartlett
Love, Love, Love. Its 1967, the summer of love. 19 year-old students Kenneth and Sandra know the world is changing and they want some of it. Smoking, drinking, affectionate and irresponsible, this sharp-witted drama follows their journey from that halcyon summer through four decades of consequences. Artistic Director, Ella Caldwell, is joined by fellow ensemble members Paul Ashcroft & Jordan Fraser-Trumble, with special guests Rory Kelly & Jem Nicholas. Director, Denny Lawrence returns after directing Belleville at Red Stitch last year.
